Store Area Rugs Properly to Avoid Damage

Area rugs, especially those made of wool, need to be cared for when stored to prevent damage. Just throwing them in the attic is not a good idea.

Here’s a problem many people do not think of – Rodents.

Rat problems in homes are more common than you might think. To a rat, a home represents protection. If a female rat is ready to have babies, she may use your home as a refuge. However, since rats are nocturnal, it can be hard to recognize that there’s a problem until it’s too late.

Since they like to spend time in areas like attics, rats are usually more attracted to rugs in storage. Store rugs in rodent-proof bags or boxes if you won’t be using them for awhile.

Also, because they’re one of the most obvious signs of an infestation, keep an eye out for rat droppings on rugs you use everyday. If you’re fairly certain there’s a problem, ask a trusted rug retailer about the best rodent repellent to use around your valuable rugs.
