Adding rugs in your home can be a very simple way to add more color or pop to your room. Over-dyed rugs are quite popular since the beautiful color of these rugs is different from the usual rug colors you normally see in showrooms. These tend to be more saturated in color, and sometimes quite bright.
To produce an over dyed rug, first the colors are neutralized while maintaining the pattern and design of the rug. Then a dye of any color (bright or neutral) is applied.
Since the over dying process is done as a second dying step, these rugs can either be of brand new materials or antique rugs that are re-dyed to add a second life.
However the patchwork trend spills over into over dyed rugs for a more eclectic look. [Verney Lesage]
Fortunately, whatever your budget, you can get the look in either hand knotted or machine made over-dyed rugs.
You can go light or dark.
And if you want to maintain a relatively neutral or soft feeling, these are great options…
“Persian rugs are classic but in these very saturated hues, the antique patterns take on a whole new hipness. The colors are delicious and fortunately the trend has made way for some more affordable options. A rug is a great way to bring in a pop of color.” – Kate Albrecht
